Hands-on training in engine repair, diagnostics, maintenance, and modern automotive systems. Students gain practical skills to service vehicles confidently, preparing them for employment in garages, transport companies, or starting their own workshops.
The department has been equipped with tools and equipment from Isle of Man and Kenyan Government. The equipment has greatly improved the quality of training in the department. The institute has also supplemented in supplying the equipment and materials needed for training. Although Automotive Engineering courses attract few female students, female students are encouraged to enroll for Engineering courses since they stand high chances of getting employment faster.FUTURE DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR THE DEPARTMENT
Market the courses offered and encourage female students to join the courses to increase their chances of employment opportunities.
The department plans to start a driving school as part of the curriculum implementation and also use the school as one of the strategies to raise revenue for the department.
The vehicle services intended to be offered to the customers would include vehicle repair and maintenance, panel beating and spray painting, car washing and vacuuming.
Duration: 9 – 15 months (NITA grades or CBET levels)
